Holiday Skin Prep.
It's FINALLY that time of year, summer holidays here we come! Everyone I speak to starts thinking about getting into shape for their beach body and what they're going to wear, but very seldom do I hear people think about their skincare prep for both their face and body. It's time to prioritise your skin first.
Think of your skin as a blank canvas (hear me out on this!). If the canvas isn't clean before painting on it, you'll end up with a textured finish. You should always ensure your canvas if clean and ready before painting on it - it's the same theory when it comes to our skin. If you're not cleansing, exfoliating or hydrating your skin before heading away and thinking about a gradual tan, you'll end up with a dull and uneven finish. Blotchy and flaky in fact, and we really don't want that.
3 things you need to do right now to ensure your skins glowing pre, during and post summer holidays. This is the easiest summer holiday skincare prep you need to know about.
3 Things To Do Right Now.
1. Dry Body Brush
Invest in a dry body brush. It helps to exfoliate your skin pre shower and also helps to increase circulation, which can help reduce the look of cellulite. I usually start using my dry body brush 3-4 weeks before going away on holiday. If you're a little more patient, it's best to introduce this as soon as spring hits so you're giving yourself plenty of time.
You don't have to spend a fortune on this tool, I got mine from my local Superdrug store. Most supermarkets and local shops sell them.
2. Exfoliate
Exfoliation is the most important step in any skincare routine. I've said this many times before, if you're not removing dead skin cells before applying a serum or moisturiser, you won't get the best results and you're pretty much wasting product and money. My personal go-to's always Yo Glow AHA + BHA Facial Enzyme Scrub by Huda Beauty for my face (this is my desert island product!) and I opt for the body option for my body Yo Detox Charcoal Face and Body Enzyme Scrub.
3. Hydrate
With warmer temperatures and increased sun exposure, it's important to up your hydration levels, both in and out. Post exfoliation, it's important to apply a nourishing serum, preferably a hyaluronic acid based serum to help plump and nourish your skin. I have a couple of serums I tend to go back to for my face like Super Bounce - it's packed full of hyaluronic acid and Super Glow which helps to brighten dull skin with Vitamin C, both by Glossier.
For body, The Body Vitamin C by Necessaire works wonders. Available at SpaceNK.
Have the BEST holiday - happy skin prepping.
